Girl with Cherries - Giovanni Ambrogio de Predis

His little bit the whole to own.

    MrsBootstraps:

Where in the world would a mother claim that her son has some kind of genetic disorder so she can curry favour on an online newspaper site?

Didn't you say of your boy that he's an "aspie"?

Terrible term to refer to a teenager old don't you think?

Isn't it a bit like calling him a poofter or a thicko?

Terrible what some parents say about their children don't you think?

Did he approve of your term of phrase or is his condition such that he finds it impossible to understand your barrister terminology?

I doubt it, after all, as you tell us, he's not Rain Man.

Or was that something that you needed to say to keep your fan base close to your heart?

You are so precious MrsBootstraps; where would the legal profession be without you?

So when did you start to publicise your son's disability, if that's what he has, rather than you trying to use it as a means of promoting his publicity seeking mum?

I think Sarah Palin could take some lessons from you MrsBootstraps.

Notice that so far there's no obscenities from me. Unlike you who resorts to them at the drop of the proverbial?

Did you tell us about your knowledge of obsceneties when your son ran away from home, to be caught by the British Transport police at Victoria Station, or was it Waterloo?

Did you tell us then he was an "aspie", or did it slip your oh so perfect mind?

    I don't think so.

Did you tell the BTP he was an "aspie"?

Doubtless you'll have the record of what you told them - being a competent lawyer?

I hope so for his sake.

And what were you doing bringing someone into your home who might be so badly influenced by your son's known erratic behaviour, assuming you're telling the truth about his 'medical condition' when as you tell us he didn't run away from home?

So many questions for the lawyer.

    (To be continued......as they say....

and ps, don't take this too seriously - it's not like threatening to blow up an airport.

Sorry about you getting in the way of my split posts Leni, but I do hope you saw my post to you a few days back about overseas students in UK universities.

And anyone else who's posting on this censor free site of course.

    So to continue MrsBootstraps:

Is that then the action of a responsible parent?

You know telling the whole wide world about your son being an aspie and his mum being an alkie.

Did I get that the right way round?

Or maybe your boy's a quite normal child and it's his parents who we and the social workers need to be concerned about?

Maybe you're the ones who should be seeking help, rather than getting your 'friends' to suggest it's me who might be deserving of that?

How easy it is for you to see concern for others as an alibi for your own failures.

How easy for your friends to make suggestions about how I'm the one who needs help while all along, you're the one who's so terribly in need of such attention?

Think about it MrsB, what mother uses her aspergic son to boost her own popularity on the internet?

But unlike you and the accusations you and your friends make about me, and have made about me in the past, you know the 'jokes' about 'paedophilia' and 'kiddy fiddling' and 'teenage brides', I have absolutely no one to hurt. And despite your friends' accusations, I don't take teenagers into my home to allow them to run off at the dead of night with my aspergic son.

You know I have no paedophilic desirous husband at home for whom I'm providing an alibi. And please, please don't take this as any kind of suggestion that your husband isn't anything other than a good upstanding Buddhist as far as young men are concerned) I don't have any cohort of friends who might stand up in court to defend my worthless reputation, if through their drunken haze they could remember what happened yesterday or the day after.

But you know how you've neglected to use your professional authority to defend me against such heinous accusations? Indeed you've encouraged them.

And doubtless you'll remember those unfortunate occasion when you denied that your obsession with CiF resulted in you not knowing where your son and his friend was, despite you being responsible for both of them?

Remember how you resented being interrupted in your postings to have to go and collect him, the ungrateful child?

We have no proof about whether he suffers from the mythical mild aspergers you tell us about on CiF and The Untrusted.

About you MrsBootstraps and your sycophantic followers..... and your very mildly Aspergic son

All we have is what you've posted before about him, his social skills and his friends coming to visit to appreciate him; how his person to person skills are the talk of the locality, and where you his mother is the pride of the neighbourhood, or at least the virtual one you don't inhabit sixteen hours a day.

    Isn't that right?

It must be - after all you're so popular on CiF.

And your son's musicianship, about which rightly you're so proud; how despite his disability he's been able to travel half way across England to perform alone, and been so confident about his ability that you can only dream about creeping into the back of the venue in case he, performing on stage, sees you and there and then despairs in public about the pathetic mother that's borne him and followed him all his life because she assumes he can't hack it as well as she can?

Or at least she hopes that's the case.

    Precious?

    Yes?

But experts suggest he doesn't sound like an aspies child don't you think?

You make him sound very very normal - in fact a bit like you and me.

Not that I'm an expert on Asperger's Syndrome but you might be; in which case you'll put me and your followers right?

Or maybe we can get Pen on this case; he seems such an intellectual chappie, unlike me who's just a old time Guardian simpleton.

And when the evidence is up there for all to see... well let's see it first before I talk about apologies.

But to me it does sound like a self possessed mother using her family to dismiss everyone and anyone who gets in her way.

    Yes?

It's not that uncommon - just look at Mrs
    Palin?

So how about the rest of the world's mild aspies?

Couldn't they also get on by pulling up their bootstraps, just as you have done so successfully MrsB, and in time become another top UK barrister?

Couldn't your son also achieve what his mother's achieved?

A famous lawyer who's saved so many asylum seekers from an early deportation, about which from a personal point of view I'm so appreciative.

To me that's a terrific achievement.

So what about you and your Buddhist husband? Where does he stand on your using him and his child as a witness to your self aggrandisement?

Is there nothing and no tactic to which you won't stoop?

About which, being a total and absolute supporter of women's rights, as you know, I'll support you all the way, although I'm a bit disappointed about your recent support for rapist anonymity. I think you should reconsider. Not that I don't understand your point - I really do and at one time (check my record - ah a problem about having so many posting names....) suggested you might just have a point, and indeed still do, albeit a weak one.

    But I digress, which I shouldn't...

Could it be that only in the UK where we really do proclaim free speech, that you could be supported by the pathetic, albeit well meaning Deano and LaRit defending the kind of difficulties you've suggested your child's been through, in order to boost your own reputation as the human rights spirit of CiF?

And yes of course it's on CiF, where you're so protected with that big C that means you can demand anyone who opposes your views should be banned, as I know only too well.

But not here where we so value free speech and oppose censorship and have to look reality in the face, without the easy escape route of profanity.

    Yes?

I didn't post as bitethehand for four years to have a self important neglective mother who's been done over like a kipper, to think she can sacrifice her own child and denigrate her own profession, in order to deny freedom of speech to someone as inconsequential as me.

Not that it matters - even with the latest censorship functions at Cif - posting there is so, so easy........

Think on it MrsB and your male acolytes.

  6. To his lost lover by Simon Armitage

    Now they are no longer
    any trouble to each other

he can turn things over, get down to that list
of things that never happened, all of the lost

    unfinishable business.
    For instance… for instance,

how he never clipped and kept her hair, or drew a hairbrush
through that style of hers, and never knew how not to blush

at the fall of her name in close company.
How they never slept like buried cutlery –

two spoons or forks cupped perfectly together,
or made the most of some heavy weather –

walked out into hard rain under sheet lightning,
or did the gears while the other was driving.

How he never raised his fingertips
to stop the segments of her lips

    from breaking the news,
    or tasted the fruit

or picked for himself the pear of her heart,
or lifted her hand to where his own heart

was a small, dark, terrified bird
in her grip. Where it hurt.

    Or said the right thing,
    or put it in writing.

And never fled the black mile back to his house
before midnight, or coaxed another button of her blouse,

    then another,
    or knew her

    favourite colour,
    her taste, her flavour,

and never ran a bath or held a towel for her,
or soft-soaped her, or whipped her hair

into an ice-cream cornet or a beehive
of lather, or acted out of turn, or misbehaved

when he might have, or worked a comb
where no comb had been, or walked back home

through a black mile hugging a punctured heart,
where it hurt, where it hurt, or helped her hand

    to his butterfly heart
    in its two blue halves.

    And never almost cried,
    and never once described

    an attack of the heart,
    or under a silk shirt

nursed in his hand her breast,
her left, like a tear of flesh

    wept by the heart,
    where it hurts,

or brushed with his thumb the nut of her nipple,
or drank intoxicating liquors from her navel.

Or christened the Pole Star in her name,
or shielded the mask of her face like a flame,

    a pilot light,
    or stayed the night,

or steered her back to that house of his,
or said “Don’t ask me how it is

    I like you.
    I just might do.”

How he never figured out a fireproof plan,
or unravelled her hand, as if her hand

    were a solid ball
    of silver foil

and discovered a lifeline hiding inside it,
and measured the trace of his own alongside it.

But said some things and never meant them –
sweet nothings anybody could have mentioned.

And left unsaid some things he should have spoken,
about the heart, where it hurt exactly, and how often.

Not been awake long - but put radio on earlier, in time to hear the end of a news bulletin - apparently Mandelson has said in response to something or other "Haven't the rich suffered enough?".........nearly fell out of bed laughing!

I missed Mandelson the Magnificent, unfortunately. But the saga of BiteTheCarpet (as dear stoaty named him) almost makes up for it.

I see from the Graun that Cameron:

"... was accused last night of trying to "rig" both houses of parliament for political advantage by slashing the number of MPs by 50 and planning to pack the Lords with dozens more Conservative peers".

Do you think he has his sights on the red London Boroughs? And the socialist republic of South Yorkshire?

  11. Bloody hell, those posts are disturbing. Isn't 'Aspie' an acceptable term...?

    ReplyDelete
  12. The thing that astonishes me about the house of lords plans is the sheer cost involved in the project. Making all those lords retire, having to pay them off really quite large sums of money, and an ongoing pension, only to replace them with another shovel full of other unelected cronies... How on earth do they hope to get away with it in these times of 'austerity'?

Born and raised to lead, (the 'natural party of government' as they like to style themselves) they really don't give a fuck what the ordinary people think, do they?

I read the Silent Coup last night - it was really interesting, thanks for that. One thing I wasn't clear on though - is it right that governments are reluctant to squeeze the oligarchs because of cronyism and connections? I'd assumed it was because there's nothing to stop oligarchs re-domiciling themselves and their wealth to Monaco or Switzerland or somewhere, an then the government would lose out on the tax revenue and jobs that the oligarch's dealings bring. But I could well be missing something, I'm a layman on economics.

The bit where he points out that the government (US, but it applies here as well) were at pains to not point to any systemic problem that led to the crisis resonates. They essentially left the banking system and regulatory climate as it was before. 'If it's too big to fail it's too big to exist' - that should be self-evident. Surely even Mervyn King was in favour of splitting the banks between investment and retail? That seems to have fallen by the wayside...

"You have inserted the word "Poles" into the post of mine you quoted. The question I was responding to was something like how do Poles and other migrants manage to find so much work if there are no jobs available, with the implication that it was just us Brits being workshy feckless idiots.

Nothing in my post suggests that they should be sent back. I was simply going on my own experience of some Eastern European and a lot of South Asian migrants, how they manage to live under the radar and how they manage to find jobs that "nobody else wants to do" by working cash in hand while living in appalling conditions."

    Wheat from Chaff:

"Appalling by whose standards? Clearly not theirs, otherwise they wouldn't do it. Nobody is forcing them to, after all.

The rather uncomfortable truth is that what this spoiled, unprecedented wealthy and healthy and long-lived generation considers to be "poverty" is several factors removed from what the rest of the world considers to be "poverty"."

Is this the most naive tory on the planet? Where do you start with a political analysis like this? Good holy god. Of course, everyone who lives in difficult circumstances 'chooses' it. Fuck me.

A few words from your pathetic but well meaning friend Deano.......

    Fuck off

I'm sure the lady Rit will, as ever, speak for herself.

A very fine poem BW I much liked it.

"...How they never slept like buried cutlery..."

    Ah the perpetual ache .....

It really is a godsend that humans can't read each the others mind. I'd would be for ever getting a slap when I came across lady librarians.......

At least I have a poetic defence now.

Shudder the thought that security mind reading machines would ever be installed in public libraries..................or at checkouts in supermarkets to protect the finer sensibilities of dear lady till operators who I often admire whilst waiting in the que.....

Fred Furnivall never had these problems.

Having exhausted most of the arguments for and against the existence of God - I am left with the ultimate design argument.......the existence of ladies and lady librarians.

It is therefore unarguable - there is a god of ...kinds.

After being alerted by leading banks that the proposed levy could raise an unexpectedly high £3.9bn a year, the Treasury is considering cutting the rate of the tax on UK and international banks to ensure the chancellor's £2.5bn target is not breached.

George Osborne plans to cut levy on banks balance sheets

    ReplyDelete
  18. Meerkatjie, I don't know - it just seems to me that a chancellor who had the opportunity to raise lots of extra tax income from the super-rich would do so. Even if you assume that self-interest is their only motivation, it would be a popular move with the electorate. The fact that no chancellor does this makes me look for an economic reason, i.e. we'd be worse off if we tried to tax the super-rich because they'd go elsewhere. If you have time today you should have a look at that article, it's really good (here)

  19. Vizzo 9.29-- well done for wading through and finding that link to The Quiet Coup by Simon Johnson . I must be brief because the sun's out, it's stopped raining, and the gales succeeded by a gentle F3 .

The argument for public consumption is of course the re-domiciling one , but like all similar you've got to take it to its logical conclusion . A parallel : look at the 30yr trend of distribution of income between Capital and Labour, and project it . Look at the de-skilling and hollowing-out of whole economies / societies and the consequences for quality of life . Globalisation and automation / IT , we saw the first signs of where we are now 40yrs ago , but of course the politicians are working to short time-scales .

It's all about Power. If the Davos crowd of financial and other economic Oligarchs consider themselves the New Rulers of the World, we can fucking disagree . Can't we ?

In the shortish term there's a certain amount of poker-playing between govts and Mammon; the latter has had more cards for some time, and the govts often corrupt and nearly always weak, and often plain thick (!), so it's been a bit of a walk-over. Interesting to see if the balance gets redressed in the next few years, because there are counter-movements out there . Look at Latin America .

Spread the word and more people here will wake up too .

PS The shift in economic power , etc, means that our growth is going to be minimal for some long time ... so there will be stagnation in per capita GDP, a question of how we imagine "work" and distribution of incomes . Something to do on distri of wealth too. The ridiculous concept of a Death Tax shows the abysmal level of debate ...:)

    There - that's better.

BW - thanks for posting those over here cos I may well have missed them. The hilarious rantings of a psychotic. It really is rather sad. Bless. Loved your Stewie allusion though. That is exactly how I "hear" his voice in my head too. Only perhaps a tad more effeminate and menacing - a bit like Mandy, as Ms Chin (or was it Sheff) said.

Meerkatjie - WFC is an old school libertarian barrister. I have lots of interesting chats with him about the law and civil liberties on various threads, but his views on politics and the economy make me want to bang my head on the desk. But at least he keeps it polite. TwoSwords finds it hard to comment without sounding like Otto off A Fish Called Wanda at times.

  25. Dave, a poker game which capital is winning strikes me as a good analogy, but what gives them that edge? I'd say the fact that they can operate across national borders, and across different regulatory climates, so all an individual government can do is court them. We're essentially bidding and competing for business, with international companies and investors being the customers - it follows that they have all the leverage. The solution would seem to be some sort of pan-national regulatory network, but the political will and convergence of interests that would make that possible seems like a distant fantasy. So, having got rid of our industry, what can the UK do except do business on whatever terms the market dictates?

The coal under the fields of Yorkshire for example has at different moment in times been regarded as black gold and then at others as near worthless.

It's true ownership and its real and future potential wealth are still open to debate.

We should never believe what accountants and lawyers tell us about value and wealth. They are paid well to be fucking liars and sophists.

Important considerations in the real affairs and accounts of humanity are - can you eat it? can you drink it? will it keep you warm/cool? can you dance /move to it? will it make you laugh/cry and can you fuck it?....

Do you remember when there was all that business about the Blairs buying a flat for their son and being involved with someone dodgy, and people were saying "There is no way Cherie would not have realised that it wasn't quite right"?

The problem is that a lot of barristers - not entirely sure it is the majority these days, but still - go straight from Public school to Oxbridge to the Bar. Each of these is an ivory tower all its own, completely cut off from reality.

In some respects that is what makes for good barristers, because it means they can look at the law absolutely coldly and impartially and apply it accordingly.

But in most respects it makes them dysfunctional and incapable of any empathy at all with anything outside their own personal experience.

Now I didn't follow the traditional route by any stretch of the imagine, but I will hold my hands up and admit that when I see an account in the newspaper of someone who has been murdered, the first thought is not for the victim or their family, but rather "ooh, I wonder what the defence will be on that?" because that is the way one's brain becomes "programmed" by the job.

So while I agree that people like WFC come across as having no compassion at times, at the end of the day they have likely never been in a position where compassion was expected of them. If that makes any sense.

Yeah, it's this crazy idea neolibs put about that the developing world is going to make everything and no one can compete.

It's bollocks, of course. As Krugman showed, the developing world cannot hope to cater for world demand, and anyway as their economies expand they are going to need more stuff themselves. That's the point of trade. It generates more opportunities for all. It's not a zero-sum game.

I mean, one pretty obvious reason why they might not might be to consider where parties get their funding from.

Hmmm that's a good point. But if so then how do you break that circle? I mean electioneering costs money, it has to come from somewhere. Unless there was a grassroots candidate who came in on the strength of some worked-out, coherent and (relatively) low risk alternative. That's what, to my mind, is lacking.

Just to clarify, I'm not trying to undermine what you're saying here in order to 'win'the argument - I really am a bit agnostic on this and not very informed about economics. I'm happy to be persuaded, but nowhere can I see a clear plan as to how to meaningfully hike up high-end and corporate tax, and facilitate short term growth to pull us out of recession.

We already agreed that seeding & supporting industry and tech is a good thing, but that's a medium-to-long term strategy, not a fix.

  52. Bitterweed - so now you're HCB?

Sorry but I don't follow the UT as closely as I might.

No poem from me sadly but another quote from J S Mill that I'm sure you'll appreciate:

The peculiar evil of silencing the expression of an opinion is, that it is robbing the human race; posterity as well as the existing generation; those who dissent from the opinion, still more than those who hold it. If the opinion is right, they are deprived of the opportunity of exchanging error for truth: if wrong, they lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth, produced by its collision with error.

John Stuart Mill, On Liberty, 1859

    ReplyDelete
  53. But, as a relatively dispassionate observer here, bitethehand, I feel I must point out that nobody did in fact try to silence you. Quite to the contrary, someone very kindly took your words and broadcast them further for you.

I'm at a loss as to the relevance of the JSM quote, therefore.

(I'm also at a loss as to on which planet the term 'aspie' is regarded as offensive. Most of the parents of autistic children that I know use it as an affectionate shorthand. It's not cruel or cutting - it is simply a way of expressing their difficulties with social situations. I don't like the autism label, personally, but to suggest that the term itself is offensive betrays perhaps a lack of understanding of what matters to the families caring for children with these kinds of difficulties.)

  57. Vizzo,

The solution to the party funding issue is well-known: state funding for parties. Which also stops one party from having too big a funding advantage.

You're being selective in terms of the investment thing. Only recalling areas of difficulty, and not the solutions.

So yes, seeding some industry would take too long, but as I said, you can invest in already-existing, promising industries to get a much quicker return.

You can also make funds available more generally for business, being as the banks are choking off lending to business at the moment.

We gave money to the banks, partly to help them recapitalise, but also so they would lend to business, but they didn't do much of the lending. We should have a better mechanism in place to ensure lending to business.

Then there is the point that investing in projects with longer lead times can still help the economy, since you are providing a stimulus with a handy growth multiplier, with money that will get recycled, employing suppliers, keeping people off the dole and avoiding knock-on crime, health and social costs.

Plus, invest in the right areas and you can attract inward investment on the back of it.

    ReplyDelete

I'm parking this here as I imagine it'll only last on WADDYA for as long as it takes Bracken The Soldier's Friend to find the 'abuse' button:

@abiggerboat - "Mr. Bracken's stern moralising is a tonic. Perhaps Mr. Bracken would also give us the benefit of his ethical searchlight concerning another case of someone benefiting from the crooked 'something-for-nothing' culture Mr. Bracken so rightly deplores.

A man is convicted of insider trading. Not only is the man obviously a crook and a cheat, but he is a thief, stealing from those who trade honestly. The man in question is fined a mere £15,000 by the Financial Services Authority.

Does Mr. Bracken agree with me that such a man, clearly morally bankrupt, should, in fact, have been sent to prison? Furthermore, is it not a sign of this man's utter shamelessness that he went on to offer himself as a potential Labour parliamentary candidate?

Does Mr. Bracken agree with me that such men are even more reprehensible than mothers of dead soldiers who receive compensation for their loss? To be fair, 20:20 hindsight is a marvellous thing. I was delighted when New Labour came to power in 97, as was the majority of the population. How the hell could any of us foresee that the "New Labour, New Danger" adverts with the demon eyes were an accurate prediction?

Good point BB but while Labour politicians have always been a bunch of duplicitous opportunists, trade union leaders are expected at the very least not to follow slavishly, the likes of Blair and Brown.

Well martillo, actually history shows she developed an obsession, and so great that the only way she could cope with it was by getting me banned as the infamous Mr Scorpio has reminded us.

But you're not quite right with your analysis.

Here I am on the Peter Tatchell thread on Cornish nationalism, praising you to the hilt - and not a women in sight 0:)

    Quoting Peter Tatchell:

"Cornish nationalists should collect all the hate-filled, bigoted, stereotyped, generalisations about Cornish people posted on this thread (mostly in the first 200 posts) and use them as evidence to the Council of Europe and the Equality and Human Rights Commission. They show that education in understanding and acceptance is much needed, and that the Cornish are justified when they say they are unfairly maligned."

Earlier on this thread I posted the following:

"Peter what is the matter with you? I have been through over 200 posts here and count five that might be considered 'hate-filled' or 'virulent anti-Cornish' or 'juvenile' and so on. This includes Tim Footman's post about Tooting! Yet not one post has been removed by the moderator - unless I missed it. Is this a record?"

"Since then others have challenged your claim so I suggest the evidence going to the Council and the Commission is going to be fairly short."

"However, as one earlier poster pointed out, (martillo at 11.57am) the abuse and insults have largely come from those who are your supporters, to which you seem particularly blind. Or is this just part of Cornish culture they're expressing?"

And a little later in the year martillo here I was praising you again:

"A great conclusion to an excellent article, Mr Cohen"
"I couldn't think of a better response than yours so I'll use it.
    martillo -
"I had no answer for him, but sensed that his furious questions were a better indicator of the bankrupting of the long period of Labour dominance than any opinion poll."

    So there you have it.

Having said that here you are in your most offensive and something I suspect you'll now regret having posted:

    martillo - 22 September, 2009 11:52

"Grrr! Those cowardly cif bastards have closed down the waddya where BTH defends lesbian paedophilia. No fucking shame."

You defame and libel The Guardian's women writers who's views that a 26 year old woman shouldn't be imprisoned for having an affair with a soon to be 16 year old, I was merely supporting and repeating. 111. From bullyonline.org:

Many serial bullies are also serial attention-seekers. More than anything else they want attention. It doesn't matter what type of attention they get, positive or negative, as long as they can provoke someone into paying them attention. It's like a 2-year-old child throwing a tantrum to get attention from a parent. The best way to treat bullies is to refuse to respond and to refuse to engage them - which they really hate. In other words, do not reply to their postings, and on forums carry on posting without reference to their postings as if they didn't exist. In other words, treat nobodies as nobodies.

When the kiss and make up thing was first posted I was heard to mutter "I wouldn't touch him with Bru's"

    ReplyDelete
  130. @Sheff

To give him credit, though, it wasn't original, it was a pure application of the bitey approach:

    - Think back over the target's posting history (fortunately, I have a memory and don't have to archive everything);

    - Choose the bits you can present in the most unfavourable light possible;

    - Use them to slyly insinuate something deeply offensive, but try not to do it directly - ask an insulting question.

I didn't have to use the final - and perhaps most characteristic - weapon in bitey's arsenal:

    - If you're stuck, just make something libellous up. With a bit of luck, some of the people who read it won't bother to check it out or hang around to read the answer.

That was why I was misled into thinking bitey's alter ago brooklynowes might be Bracken. They use much the same methods.

The style is very different, though: Bracken sneers, blusters pompously and goes into meltdown, while bitey smears poisonously and stalks.

Nope, you have succeeded in establishing a course of conduct and could well face action under the Protection from Harassment Act.

Chap was registered disabled under the old 1944 Act (and thus unarguably disabled under the 1995DDA and all later Acts)

And since he is unarguably totally blind in one eye whilst the arrogant bastards at the disability denial factory ( (ddf=atos) I think I owe that ddf phrase to redminer) claim in writing that there is nothing wrong with his vision.

Whoaaaahhhh. Yeah, calling up posts from nearly 12 months ago... That's not stalkerish at all....

I post regularly on CiF on a number of issues and have done since June 2006 and I like the views of some of CiF's ATL writers who many posters don't. Because of this I have attracted a lot of opposition and that is fine, but many of those who oppose seem to resent even my right to post and have always done their best to get me banned. This opposition has featured not only on CiF but also here on The Untrusted.

The Untrusted started in February 2009 and it was December when I made my first post here. By then there were over 400 posts about me, with large numbers being obscene and defamatory and included accusations that I am having sexual relationships with staff at CiF and The Guardian and getting favours from them, that I’m a racist, a stalker and on the basis of my posts on articles written by Barbara Ellen, Libby Brooks and Tanya Gold, that I am a paedophile. Some of these accusations have been repeated here today. Because The Untrusted is largely unmoderated, these posts have remained. You can read them yourself. Try 30 April, 2009 at 20:47; 17 May, 2009 at 00:12; 21 August, 2009 at 12:29; 10 December, 2009 at 23:54.

On 16 August, a day I was in China where the censors prevent posting on google blogs even when using proxies, the residents here had some real fun pretending to be me. Here's one post of many:

And if you think my posts are bad, you need to read what this lot say about themselves. Have a look back for posts by HankScorpio, Monkeyfish and scherfig. Here's HankScorpio being particulaarly nasty to poor PaulBJ:

You're not proud, Paul. We all know that. Your humble and subservient, and very very greedy for approval. It's sad to see. You need to get some self-respect.
As for wiping the floor with my white arse, don't be silly. You're playing up to racial stereotypes there.

No real argument from me other than to point out the 'opposition' you attract is not, in the main, a result of your strange opinions...it stems at least as much from your sanctimonious style and fuckin all-round creepy weirdness. You're obviously quite a one for the archives and some of your posts do represent an unassailable factual chronology of real events; but as history, they fall well short since you consistently fail to evoke any impression of 'motive', atmosphere....the contemporary 'Zeitgeist'.

i posted a longer version of this earlier but it got lost somewhere.

Re compensation being regarded as capital and consequently being used to minimise people's benefits.

this happened with the miners' compensation too - the agreed sum ws paid in full to the men - if payment could be delayed until he died his widow recd. only half the agreed sum. Both the men and their widows lost benefit as they were now regarded as having 'capital'

Now my point - bearing in mind that compensation paid for loss or injury is based upon the acceptance of responsibility - in full or as a contributor to that injury - do we regard the sum paid as 'capital' as we usually understand it or is it in fact a 'benefit' as defined within Social Security legislation ?

to cut or withfraw benefit is very much giving with one hand while taking with the other. the dead soldier you were discussing paid his contributions as did his family.

There is moral and legislative confusion here.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Sheff - best of luck. :-(

Yes, I did delete some of his offensive posts a long time ago, and was happy to do so and I stand by it, and was supported by montana in my actions btw, but if I'm not much mistaken, montana did the same, and I believe also some other people with admin rights might have done so occasionally? I know this might fuel bitey's paranoia, but I'm fucked if I'm going to listen to you pontificate about the sanctity and freedom of UT by constantly apologising for me deleting a couple of despicable obscenities. Bitey's recent post here about about me was that I was a 'professional censor'????? What the fuck does that mean? I no longer read or post here much, and when I do, very few people engage with me.

The compensation once paid over becomes capital/savings for the recipient its effect on the the particular benefit then may depends on whether or not the benefit in question is a means tested one.

    System is full of anomalies.

For example me mate got IB and an occupational pension but the rules about that changed about April 2001.

Anybody claiming after that date got IB reduced
if pension was above a certain figure. The IB benefit thus changed from being an entitlement solely based on NI contribution to a contribution/means tested benefit....

The same sort of problems may have affected those getting the Miners compensation. I don't know much about that scheme except that some fucking lawyers creamed millions from the available funds

They didn't apply the rules to old claimants before 2001 cos of legal principle of hostility to retrospective effect.

The super rich guard the legal hostility to retro effect 'cos they don't want to be caught out with taxes that have retrospective effect.....

Hiya Scherf, have some nice fresh Ormo soda farls for me! The call of said soda farls is strong, but on the other hand some of the more irritating family members are there, so I am staying away.

  191. I don't have bitey's archival nous, so perhaps a few among you might repost the deft and delicate comments on this site that have flavoured and perfumed your opinions of Ally? Just by way of a warm welcome...

Don't wish to prompt, but I'm sure MF might recall a fragment or two for a suitably fragrant greeting....

  193. Aren't you a primary school teacher? How would you react if someone posted things like that about you?

Dear oh Lord. I have reached the ranks of The Mentioned.

Good luck with the bunion, Sheff - the only consolation that I can see is that at least it's not yours...

  194. Oh, and Scherfig ... if you like yer whiskey at all ... Bushmills made a special 400-year commemorative batch: "1608 anniversary edition"; it is sublime and only for sale at the brewery. Snaffle some if you can.
