The bikini was introduced in 1946 and Arthur Ashe became the first black man to win Wimbledon in 1975. Celebrating birthdays today: Robbie Robertson, Huey Lewis, Bill Watterson and Gianfranco Zola. It is Independence Day in Venezuela, Cape Verde, and Algeria.

    I suppose you have to expect an co-ordinated attack from the tax payers association though. But what do you expect from a group so in cahoots with international finance and their er 'creative' financial instruments.

  7. Well that's good news - when we were out walking this morning I thought that the fields of barley had that golden just ready look about them.

    Lo and behold the combines are out this evening and the harvest is thus just starting up here in Yorks. So it's looking good for next years beer - I always feel a sense of relief when they start cutting the barley.
